Our HistoryOur Journey BeginsIn 1993, our vision came to fruition when we opened our first branch in Uganda. We then made in-roads in 1996, by opening our doors in Jinja marking the first of our expansion efforts. Today, we are spread in the towns of Entebbe, Mbale, Gulu and going to Arua soon.
Key Milestones
• 2002
In 2002, we successfully beat other banks in taking over Trans-Africa Bank Ltd., thus growing our presence in Uganda.
• 2003
Being an innovative Bank, in 2003 we launched the Orient Express Cards and Automated Teller Machines (ATM's), which transformed banking in Uganda.
• 2005
In response to changing customer needs, we also introduced Point of Sale terminals in 2005, ushering the use of Plastic as a mode of transaction.
• 2006
2006 marked a major milestone, when our deposit base rose to an un- precedented Ushs.101 Billion while shareholder funds exceeded Ushs.23 Billion, the highest for our peer group in Uganda.
• 2007
We continued in our proactive approach of introducing innovative products, and in 2007, successfully launched the Visa on our ATM's and Points of Sale Machines.
• 2008
2008 we opened 2 more upcountry branches in Gulu and Mbale and spread out more than 300 Point of sale machines across the country.
• 2009
April 2009 Bank PHB plc. acquired majority share holding in Orient Bank.
• 2010
